Governor Roy Cooper announced that the Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved 22 grants, totaling $8.4 million, to support rural community growth across North Carolina. These grants aim to create 557 jobs and attract over $83 million in public and private investment.
Highlighting the impact, Governor Cooper noted, “These investments are about empowering communities, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable growth for a brighter future across North Carolina.”
One of the notable projects includes an $850,000 grant for Pittsboro’s Downtown Streetscape Revitalization Project, which will enhance accessibility by upgrading brick sidewalks and adding ADA-compliant ramps. This project alone is set to attract $2.66 million in additional investments, enhancing the town’s appeal and accessibility for all.
These RIA grants signify North Carolina’s dedication to strengthening rural economies and ensuring sustainable growth for all its communities.
